Redecorate Your Eyes with Non-prescription Color Contacts

If you think your eyes could be more appealing, you can give them a makeover with non-prescription color contacts. Although your vision may be perfect, you might wish your eyes looked different. If so, non-prescription color contacts are a quick and simple way to give your eyes a new appearance.

Non-prescription color contacts are made for people who don't require lenses with vision correction. Lenses without vision correction are called plano. And while a plano lens doesn't require a prescription for vision, like all contact lenses, it does require a prescription for fitting.

The type of non-prescription color contacts you get depend on the look you want to have and how you plan to wear them. There are two ways that lenses are colored. One type of lens is designed to deepen your natural eye color or give it highlights. Because the effect is subtle, this type of lens is only for light colored eyes. The other type of lens has a ring of non-transparent color that covers your iris so it can give your eyes a new color.

The second consideration for getting non-prescription color contacts is how often you plan to wear them. If it's infrequently or you plan to change colors often, you should probably consider disposable lenses. They usually can be worn for either one week of continuous use or two weeks of only daytime use. And if your plans are for just a few days of continuous wear at a time, disposables lenses let you eliminate cleaning since they're thrown away after one use.

If you think you'll wear your non-prescription color contacts more frequently, you might consider regular daily-wear lenses. Because they will last at least a year before replacement, they'll lower your costs for lenses. But you'll also have the expense of cleaning and disinfecting solutions. And the effort involved to make sure they're cleaned every time you remove them.
