One of the problems that occurs with any contact lens is a buildup on the lens from substances in your tears or your environment. This is why keeping your contacts clean and replacing them as scheduled is important. But because Preference toric contact lenses are scheduled for replacement within three months, there is less time for buildups to form. The amount of astigmatism can very for each person's eye and some people only need correction for one eye. For these situations, the eye without astigmatism can use a regular("spherical") Preference lens which doesn't correct for astigmatism, but otherwise has the same features as Preference toric contact lenses.
